Where Do I Obtain a Patent?
To file a patent application, you must obtain a form from the USPTO. All of the required forms are available on their site. They are available in PDF format for viewing and printing. The USPTO also gives extensive how-to guides available here.
To check on the status of your patent application, the USPTO has set up a Patent Application Information Retrieval System (PAIR). The PAIR site securely provides you the status of your application, and also provides the public the same information once a patent has been granted.
